This isn't the first time Amazon has been profiting off of pedophilia!! #childabuse #parents #kids #amazonfail
This video reveals the truth about Amazon.com and the fact that this isn't the first time Amazon has profited off of pedophilia and child erotica type books!
This is disgusting and must stop, this is not about free speech, this is about defending right and wrong and it is a crime to commit pedophilia or promote sexual acts against children! How can Amazon defend this?
As you can see from the overwhelming response on twitter today to a kindle e-book on amazon, there are many people who are opposed to Amazon selling a pedophilia guide called, "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure by Phillip R Greaves 2nd (Kindle Edition - Oct 28, 2010) . Earlier TechCrunch.com reported the book was removed, then Gawker.com reported that it was selling more copies and the book had jumped into Amazon.com's top 100 books. It seems the book has been removed but one of the hyperlinks which mentions the book is still listed, see tweet below by @TaoistSoul. I first learned about it this morning by a tweet from @mommyperks and immediately shared with all I could. Apparently it went viral throughout the day as more and more people on twitter learned about the book, then Fox News and other mainstream news agencies finally picked up on the controversy, with many people calling for a boycott on Amazon if the book was not removed.
Despite the active link to the book title,http://www.amazon.com/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_seeall_1?rh=k%3APedophiles-Guide-Love-Pleasure%2Ci%3Astripbooks&keywords=Pedophiles-Guide-Love-Pleasure&ie=UTF8&qid=1289454748, it appears the book was removed, however Amazon also issued a statement which defends posting the book for use on kindle, which allows publishers to self-publish without any editorial reviews. The site TheNextWeb.com, also reported on it and discusses the need for an editorial review on self-published books to avoid this situation in the future.
While I'm all for respecting free speech and our First Amendment rights, I am opposed to anyone abusing it to promote criminal activity and pedophilia is against the law! Therefore Amazon should remove the book, if it hasn't, and they should not defend the book under censorship issues.
Amazon told TechCrunch: "Amazon believes it is censorship not to sell certain books simply because we or others believe their message is objectionable. Amazon does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts, however, we do support the right of every individual to make their own purchasing decisions."
So it sounds like while they may disagree with the content of the book, it is not promoting hatred or criminal acts?? So basically they don't think a pedophilia guide book promotes a criminal act and people have to use their own discretion when deciding to purchase such a book??
