Miss Teen Hawaii donates her organs

Beautiful teen lives on through organ donation. Miss Teen Hawaii kidneys, pancreas and liver were donated after her sudden death last Tuesday. Such a shame to lose someone so beautiful inside and out, but thanks to her giving family she lives on through her memory and through giving her organs to others.

Parents made to wait two hours to see doctor w/sick baby!

I knew this had to be in the UK. How would you like to wait two hours while your baby is vomitting, has a high fever, curling his legs up to his chest in pain and then told to wait an hour to see a doctor;which then turned into two hours!? The baby was finally seen after two hours passed and his tongue started to swell from meningitis!! Meningitis is a life threatening and brain damaging condition if the diagnosis or treatment is late!

This is another scary example of how government health care reduces the quality of care in an attempt to reduce costs and provide care to all. Thankfully in this situation the baby survived, but there have been cases in countries such as the UK where people have died because of longer wait times to see a doctor, along with lack of quality doctors available. It is already predicted that we will have less doctors to provide care in the future and once the new health care plan kicks into effect in 2014; experts expect more shortages in the US due to an increased number of patients and more doctors retiring or giving up their practices because of medicare cuts in pay and because of higher fines and taxes. In addition, there has already been a decline of people going into the medical profession.

The parents of a nine-month old baby diagnosed with meningitis said they had to wait two hours to see a doctor.

Ian Newland took baby Edward to Wexham Park Hospital (WPH) in East Berkshire.

Edward was seen by a triage nurse before being placed in a waiting room. He was seen two hours later when his tongue started to swell.

A statement from WPH said comment could not be made on individual cases but a triage nurse would "establish clinical priority".

Mr Newland said he was advised by his GP to take Edward to hospital if his symptoms got worse.

Hospital statement

He said: "He had a high fever, was vomiting, and was bringing his legs up to his chest and crying out in agony.

"A triage nurse assessed him and said we'd be seen by a doctor in one hour, and then put us on some chairs and that's where we sat for two hours.

"We made sure he was rehydrated and although he had a raging fever, to the staff, he looked like a healthy baby.

"When's Edward's tongue started to swell my wife alerted the doctors and that's when they saw him."

A statement from the hospital said: "Patients who arrive in A&E are all seen by an experienced triage nurse.

"They will undertake an initial assessment to establish the clinical priority for their treatment.

"Following triage, appropriate treatment is given and observations taken so staff can ascertain the best care pathway for patients."

Edward was diagnosed with meningitis and is responding to treatment.

Should paralyzed, mute&possibly vegetative mother have vistation rights?

I came across this article today and it touched my heart, but also compelled me to share it and ask if you feel a person in this mother's condition and the grandparents of the children deserve visitation rights? I say why not, because she is still their mother despite her health condition and according to her parents she can respond via blinks to yes and no questions.

Regardless as to whether she can speak or fully understand her surroundings, she will always be the mother of those children and the father should not take that right from them. I think if he does, as they grow up and realize what happened they will most likely be unhappy with their father for keeping them from seeing their mother, even if she can't play and respond to them like other parents.

In addition, the father is keeping them from a healthy relationship with their grandparents who love the children and should be entitled to visitation rights. Just because he divorced her and broke his vow to stay married through 'sickness and health', he should not deny his children this special time with their mother and grandparents.

Nobody really knows the power of the human body and the mind except our creator and for all the doctors and anyone else knows their mother will be able to sense who her children are naturally. In addition, their have been cases of people in coma's and with devastating brain injuries who have overcome their disabilities and awoken able to communicate, most recently was a teen who awoke from a coma able to speak in German!  As with the case of little Paul, who drowned and was declared dead after three hours, miracles can happen and are possible. Why give up on someone and why deny them their parental rights to visitation?

As for the father seeking child support off a family who is already overburdened with medical care and expenses to treat their mother, it sounds like he is being greedy. Where is the compassion? If she were not in her condition I'm sure they would still have remained married, but because of her disability he divorced her and now expects child support and fully custody, without any visitation. How cruel!
LOS ANGELES - A mother who is unable to move or speak — and possibly to understand — is the focus of an unusual, emotional court case to decide if she has visitation rights with her 3-year-old triplets.

A trial is set to start next month after a Los Angeles County judge on Tuesday ruled the parents of Abbie Dorn can fight for their daughter's right to see her children.

"They're not going to parent," Superior Court Judge Rudolph A. Diaz said. "They only want a right of visitation. They have the right to pursue that."

Dorn, 34, gave birth to a girl, Esti, and boys Reuvi and Yossi in 2006 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She suffered brain damage from complications of blood loss after a doctor nicked her uterus during delivery, according to a malpractice lawsuit that was settled for nearly $8 million.

Dorn was left unable to move, talk, eat or drink, and now lives with her parents, Susan and Paul Cohen, in Myrtle Beach, S.C. She receives hours of daily therapy at a cost of about $33,000 a month, funded by the malpractice settlement.

There is a God!Miracle boy survives drowning after heart stops!

Who says the news is all bad,sad and controversial...thankfully this isn't the case and there is good news in the world despite all the recent natural disasters, loss of lives, and political controversies. I had to share this story about a young boy named, Paul, who saw his great-grandmother in heaven and lived to tell the world about it. I think the Professor of Peadiatrics frome the hospital in Buch,UK said it best when he said, "It goes to show the human body is a very resilient organism and you should never give up. The boy is happy and healthy. It's a wonderful thing."  For this reason alone, I hope others are inspired, and hopeful that no matter how grave their health or a situation might be, there is always hope and the grace of God, our creator, which designed this 'resilient organism'.
A three-year-old boy brought back from the dead after his heart stopped beating for three hours has told how he saw his great-grandmother in Heaven.

The youngster - who is named only as Paul - claimed he met his relative and she sent him back to Earth.

Paul was playing on his own when he fell into a lake near his grandparents' house in the town of Lychen, north of Berlin, Germany.

The child's grandfather later found him lifeless in the water.

Paul was quickly dragged to the shore but the youngster remained unconscious.

His father, who had had first aid training in the past, tried to resuscitate his son by giving him mouth to mouth and heart massage.

A helicopter took him to Helios hospital in Buch and doctors also tried to resuscitate him but he was unresponsive.

They were about to stop because the boy had been clinically dead for three hours and 18 minutes - but then a miracle happened.

The team managed to get his heart beating again, defying the laws of medicine.

After months of bullying-another student ends up in hospital

What is it with kids these days? There is so much violence and disregard for others it is frightening, and many instances have lead to violent acts of bullying leading to suicide, gang rapes, and even murder.  Here's a recent story out of Massachuessettes, where recently Phoebe Prince was bullied so frequently and so viciously she finally took her own life last month.  The recent bullying incidents appear to occur in the tween and teen years, but can happen at any stage of childhood.

While bullying isn't a new problem, it has become a worse problem or more reported problem. I had a friend who suffered bullying back in fifth grade; but thankfully it was not as violent and vicious as the attacks of today's bullies. Regardless, it was wrong and any form of bullying needs to be reported immediately and handled sternly by parents and authorities. We must be proactive and involved to make sure we 'nip these incidents in the bud' before our child is the next victim of a bully, but also to make our children aware that bullying is wrong and has consequences.  This family is lucky, they were able to get their daughter to talk and they finally witnessed the bullying firsthand via a phone call their daughter received, she will now stay in the hospital for emotional distress and until the school can guarantee her safe return to through an adequate safety plan:
FOXBORO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - It seems like every night on the news, there's another bullying story. After we air those stories, we get so many e-mails from parents who are concerned about their kids who are getting bullied.

A Foxboro mother has spent the past four days going back and forth to the hospital to visit her eighth grade daughter who is there for emotional distress after months and months of bullying.

Police are now looking at this as a criminal harassment investigation...

Abortions to Euthanasia Coming to Your Child's School?

I have written about the consequences of Obamacare upon passage of health care reform, otherwise known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which was recently passed through various bribes and earmarks in Congress. Currently, at least 16 states are joining in on a suit against the federal government as they believe it to be unconstitutional because it is the first time the federal government is mandating citizens of the US to purchase a product or service or be fined and possibly jailed.

Now parents need to be more aware of what type of health care their children might receive at school, upon signing parental consent forms, because under the new health care legislation more funding will go towards providing school based health clinics, which could authorize treatments parents may unknowingly consent to.

These general consent forms could authorize school based health clinics (SBHC) to provide your child with everything from basic physicals and immunizations to such medical procedures as abortions and assisted suicide in states that view euthanasia as a form of medical treatment.

This is a warning for all parents to read the fine print in these consent forms, ask questions and make sure to sign a waiver against any type of medical care that goes beyond a basic physicals or immunizations. Otherwise, like the mother in Seattle who's daughter was sent to have an abortion without her knowledge, , could happen to your child without your knowledge.  As the Seattle area mom found out, the Ballard High School consent form that she signed gave permission for any and all services available that the clinic provides, either directly or by referral.

[The] school-based health clinic (SBHC) had arranged for her 15-year-old daughter's abortion. The high school student was given a pass, put in a taxi, and sent for an abortion during school hours -- all without the parents' knowledge. To add insult to injury, the teen was told that there wouldn't be any charge for the abortion if she concealed it from her family.

Was this legal?

Yes.

According to Seattle School District spokeswoman Teresa Wippel, "From a legal/procedural standpoint, it's a non-issue."

But this article isn't about abortion and ObamaCare. That topic has been and will continue to be widely discussed. Rather, it is about school-based health clinics, parental consent, and assisted suicide. That aspect of the new law has, until now, been under the radar even though it is part and parcel.

Under ObamaCare, there will be a massive expansion of SBHCs (Sec. 4101), creating full-service clinics across the country.

Until now, SBHC had been funded by state and private funds. With passage of ObamaCare, the federal government has entered into the fray. According to the NASBHC
, passage of ObamaCare was "an unprecedented victory for school-based health centers" which will enable other communities to open school clinics.  According to the NASBHC, access to any service (sports physicals, for example) requires parents to sign written consent for their children to receive the full scope of services provided at the SBHC.

Kevin Jennings
, the Obama administration's controversial (I'll share more on him soon)Assistant Deputy Secretary of the Office of Safe and Drug-Free Schools, is slated to keynote the organization's June convention with an address titled "Partnering Education and Health for a Safer School Environment."

Hundreds of millions of federal dollars will be directed to SBHCs.

The expanded clinics will provide on-site access during the academic year and 24-hour coverage through backup health providers to ensure access to services on a year-round basis when school is not in session. All of this will proceed with little or no parental involvement.

A legacy of hope inspired by one young man 30 yrs ago...

I was only in middle school when this young man's legacy began. I just recently learned about this inspiring young man who despite the tragic loss of his right leg, changed the lives of many and that of a country. He wasn't a politician nor a teacher, but he was an 18 yr old man with determination, courage and hope.  Here is the story of Terry Fox from Canada who's legacy of hope inspires millions worldwide and continues to help others today:

After months of intensive training, Fox began his journey on April 12th, 1980, in St. John's, Newfoundland. He received little recognition at first. When he initially approached the Canadian Cancer Society with the idea, for instance, it doubted that he could raise his goal of $1 million. But once the marathon was underway, Fox was quick to capture the attention of the nation and donations poured in. He ran, on average, 40km a day, the equivalent of a regular marathon. This was an astounding feat for any athlete, but a sheer miracle for a runner with just one good leg.

Fox persevered through pain, fatigue, and harsh weather in pursuit of his goal. He ran for 143 days and covered 5,342km before his odyssey came to an abrupt stop in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on September 2, 1980. Cancer had spread to his lungs, and he was forced to fly back to B.C. for treatment.

Despite an iron will and a nagging determination to finish the Marathon of Hope, Fox succumbed to the disease on June 28, 1981, at the age of 22. The young runner had so touched the hearts of Canadians that a national day of mourning was declared on the day of his death.

Though he never made it all the way to the Pacific coast, Fox's efforts were not in vain. His marathon raised $23.5 million for cancer research, encouraged hope in those touched by the disease, and inspired awe in everyone who heard the story. Annual marathons in his name are now held across Canada and around the globe, and to date over $400 million has been raised worldwide.

Disturbing! Six year old molests classmates!

Image via Wikipedia
Now this is disturbing! A six year old boy is accused of molesting fellow first grade boys while in class and the school did not remove him from class until at least 10 boys were victimized. The student has been suspended for only 10 days and has been placed into alternative education.

I understand he's only six, but only a 10 day suspension;does this mean he could return after the ten days are up? It sounds like he needs some sort of psychological counseling and evaluation. For any child to act in this manner should clearly indicate a problem and be a warning that he himself has mostly likely been the victim of child/sexual abuse. I hope the school & officials involved are trying to find out what is going on at home with this poor boy. I hope a throughal investigation and analysis is done before he is ever allowed around other students/children again in the future and that his parents/care-givers are investigated.

I know that as a parent of a five year old boy(and 3 year old son), I would never want this to happen and if it had I would want to be sure this child does not return to school and is never around children again;at least not without constant one-one supervision. Do you think the school acted in a timely manner and the punishment fits the crime?

MIDDLETON, Mass. -- A 6-year-old first-grader in Middleton is accused of molesting fellow classmates while the teacher's back was turned, Boston TV station WCVB reported."We've had sexually inappropriate behavior at the first-grade level between students," Superintendent Bernard Creeden said. The boy, whose name was not released by police or school officials, is accused of sexually assaulting at least 10 boys in his class.

The student, who is too young to face criminal charges in Massachusetts, even as a juvenile, was a student at the Fuller Meadow School. In an e-mail to parents, Creeden said the “aggressor” has been removed from zthe classroom."

He was pulling kids' pants down, threatening to beat them up if they said anything to any adult and touching them," said the parent of an alleged victim, who wished to remain anonymous. "He was massaging my son, asking him to pull his pants down or he was going to beat him up."

At a raucous public meeting Tuesday, during which police had to calm the crowd, parents accused Principal Malvena Baxter of knowing about the abuse a month ago. The school said it became aware of the incidents a week and a half ago and notified parents on Friday.

"A lot of parents that have first-graders are upset. They don't like that it was hush-hush," parent Jeanie Gioioso said.Police said the incidents may have started as physical bullying, progressed into sexual molestation and ended with the boy allegedly threatening his victims to keep quiet.
