I am a mom of two young sons and a former elementary teacher. I have a parenting resource site, a gift and party supply site, a low cost advertising site for home based businesses and I host a moms support call in show called MamasTimeOut on Sundays at 2:30pm MST.[show on temporary break]
Could you imagine driving down the road when suddenly you notice something in the road and it turns out to be a baby!!?? This is one lucky girl...especially since it was near midnight. How she got out of her house and what she was doing up so late is unknown but the mother is in a fight to keep custody rights of her children since this incident. According to the video below;the mother says she thought the kids were in the other room watching television. The father came out to get the baby after hearing the sounds of the bus brakes in front of their house. He then went out to get the baby girl after the bus driver stopped to save her and the father grabbed her and walked away without even a thank you!
What do you think based on the story and video clip? Was it an accident?? Should the mother be able to keep her children after this incident?

Dashboard camera footage shows a shocking near miss for a San Antonio, Texas bus driver.
It was just after midnight last May when driver Mike Hubbard spotted something in the street ahead of him.
Hubbard stopped just in time to miss running over that something: a baby clad only in a diaper sitting in the middle of the street.
He quickly got off the bus and scooped up the child.
Moments later a man runs from a nearby house and takes the child, all without saying a word.
The baby was Destiny Flores.
She's now 2-years-old and doing fine, but her mother, 25-year-old Catherine Gonzalez is still fighting to keep Destiny and her two sisters.
Gonzalez says she has no idea how Destiny opened the door of their home and got out that night.
Texas Child Protective Services will determine if the girls will be allowed to remain in the home within the next few weeks.
How senseless and disgusting that this woman would want to marry someone who just beat her four year old son up to the point that his face was swollen, then they went to get married leaving the son locked up in a bedroom!! She claims she did not seek medical treatment in fear of her fiance beating her;instead she purchased lighter fluid to burn his body to hide any evidence the boy was beaten with a hammer to the point his face was disfigured and his teeth to make identification difficult.
They then plotted and told police they found the boy dead in his bed and buried him. His body was found a day later in the mountains in Utah. Here is more on the story:
SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah man held in the slaying of his 4-year-old stepson beat him for days before the boy died, then used a hammer to disfigure his face and teeth before burying his body in the mountains, according to police records released late Wednesday.
The body of Ethan Stacy, wrapped in plastic, was unearthed by police Tuesday.
Interview summaries filed by Layton police detectives documented increasingly harsh treatment of the boy during his short time in Utah. A Virginia judge had sent the boy to Layton for a summer visit with his mother just 10 days before his death, police said. (AP Photo/Layton Police Department)
Investigators said they obtained photographs and video images of Ethan's worsening condition from his mother's cell phone, starting more than a week ago.
The injuries resulted from the stepfather, Nathanael Sloop, "engaging in a systematic and progressively more violent pattern of abuse toward Ethan," detectives wrote in interview summaries. The documents say Sloop was angry with the child and "tried everything" to discipline him; however, they don't say why the boy was being disciplined.
Sloop, 31, acknowledged hitting the boy, which caused his face to swell, and leaving him in a locked bedroom May 6 while the couple went to get married in Farmington, about 10 miles away, according to the probable cause statements used to support arrest warrants and detention in jail.
Sloop and the boy's mother, Stephanie Sloop, 27, feared his injuries would alert authorities if they took him along to the courthouse wedding, the documents state.
"This pattern of behavior and abuse was done in a manner that was recklessly indifferent to the child's welfare," police wrote.
Stephanie Sloop told police she did not seek medical help for Ethan because she was afraid Nathanael Sloop "would harm her," Detective Brooke Plotnick wrote.
The couple told police they found Ethan dead in his bed Sunday morning, and that Nathanael Sloop buried him later that day.
Stephanie Sloop told investigators she bought two cans of lighter fluid for Nathanael Sloop to burn the body before it was buried. The reports didn't say whether that was actually done.
The stepfather disfigured the boy's face and teeth "in an effort to defeat or delay identification," detectives concluded in their reports.
Happy Mother's Day today and every day to all the mothers, grandmothers and adoptive/foster mothers of the world!!
I came across this beautiful poem and video via Bit Rebels posted by Diana Adams of Adams Consulting, awhile back. It is one of the most touching and inspiring videos I have seen in awhile, with beautiful photography reflecting childhood and motherhood and the essence of what motherhood is about. Included in the post was not only this poem and video, but a reflection of Diana's own experience as a mother to a growing nine year old son. If you click back to the link to read her post Diana points out how her now nine year old son no longer needs or wants to do everything with her. The relationship between mother [parent] and child evolves and changes over time. Soon you find you are not needed nor wanted around as much as before. Your baby is now growing up and becoming independent.
As I wrote on Diana's post: "...every day is Mother’s day. I am stay at home mom of a 2.5 yr old and 5.5 yr old sons, some days can be longer and harder than others but the joys of parenting, the sounds of their sweet laughter and the thought of my sons not needing me are heart breaking. Yet, at the same time I hope that what we teach them they will take with them forever."
It is well understood that parenting and motherhood are the toughest jobs anyone will ever have. No matter how big they get and how far they move; they will always be with us near or far and we will always be with them. What we teach them is what will define them and what defines them is a piece of you. Below is the beautiful poem and video as presented:
YOUR MOTHER IS ALWAYS WITH YOU…
Your mother is always with you… She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.
She’s the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks. She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not well.
Your mother lives inside your laughter. She’s crystallized in every tear drop. She’s the place you came from, your first home… She’s the map you follow with every step that you take.
She’s your first love and your first heart break… and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, Not space… Not even death… will ever separate you from your mother… You carry her inside of you…

As if parents don't have enough things to worry about, between recent drug recalls and keeping involved in our kids daily lives;parents of teens need to be especially aware of this new &legal drug teens are using to get high in place of using marijuana, but is three to five times more potent.
It's called K2 and it is used in incense, it is a mix of herbs sprayed with a chemical that is not safe for human consumption and teens are smoking it in pipes, bongs and joints. While more information is needed on the long term effects of K2, it may be potentially fatal and many kids have ended up in the emergency room! Some of the effects include: increased heart rates, loss of consciousness, paranoia and psychotic episodes, including irreversible damage to the brain. The drug affects different people in different ways, so there is no way to determine how it will react in an individual.
Currently this drug does not show up in drug tests, but a testing method will potentially become available if K2 is made illegal nationwide. One state so far, Kentucky, has decided to ban this product.
So be aware and keep your teens safe, make sure they are not using this or other drugs which could harm them or others, especially if they get behind a car.
(WHAS11) There’s a new drug that’s easy to get. It’s called K2.
Kentucky just banned it, but in most states it’s legal.
Experts warn though that they don’t know much about it and it’s already put dozens of people in the hospital.
K2, also known as fake weed, has put over 100 people in the emergency room in Louisville so far this year.
The Poison Control Center said people between 17 and 29 years of age are the biggest users right now.
But the drug is becoming so popular, smoke shops in Indiana can barely keep it on the shelves; although it was never meant to be a drug.
It’s smoked in joints, bongs and pipes just like marijuana. It even has the same smell and users say it gives them the same high.
Chris Kiviniemi, who was smoking K2 said, “This is the best thing going on right now.”
It’s an un-regulated mixture of dried herbs, sprayed with a chemical compound and most of the packaging reads, “Not for human consumption.”
Now the FDA is reporting that the allergy and cold medicines recalled last week are contaminated with an unknown bacteria...yet they are saying it is not known to be harmful. Yet their have been over 46 consumer complaints regarding the unknown bacteria. I thought last week they said it was being recalled due to improper mixture of ingredients? Now it is because of an unknown bacteria? According to the latest report, the FDA did an inspection in mid-April;siting numerous deficiencies yet the recall was supposedly voluntary by McNeil Health last week? Did the FDA withhold important consumer information before the company decided to issue their own recall?
At this time you are advised to throw out any of the effected medicines and purchase generic equivalents;if you are not sure check with your doctor or pharmacist.
TUESDAY, May 4 (HealthDay News) -- Bacterial contamination has been found in ingredients used to make the liquid cold and allergy products for children that were recalled Friday by drug giant McNeil Consumer Healthcare, according to a report issued late Tuesday by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Last Friday, McNeil initiated a voluntary recall of more than 40 products, including liquid Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl. These medications have been sold in the United States and 11 other countries. In all, about 1,500 lots of these products have been recalled.
The company also closed its plant in Fort Washington, Pa., where the contaminated products were made. The plant remains closed and cannot reopen without FDA approval.
Speaking at a Tuesday afternoon press briefing, Deborah M. Autor, director of the FDA's Office of Compliance, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, said that in February, the agency met with executives of McNeil Healthcare and its corporate parent Johnson & Johnson to complain about the company's manufacturing practices.
McNeil had received 46 consumer complaints of foreign substances in its products, the FDA said.
I don't know how many times these situations will continue to occur;but it is such a tragedy to hear when someone leaves their child in the care of someone they trust and then end up finding their child victimized by them. This is all too common in homes of single parents, especially single moms who bring a boyfriend into the home. I don't know all the details of the relationship between this mother and her boyfriend, but apparently she must have trusted him enough to leave her toddler alone with him while she was at work. Sadly, this situation ended tragically and the toddler was sexually assaulted and brutally beaten with 'blunt trauma to the abdomen'.
It is my hope justice will prevail and this man is never let free again. We need harsher punishment against sexual predators in this country;no parole,no get out of jail plea bargaining deals; but life in prison and in this case he is charged with capital murder of a child under six so I believe he will get life in prison if not the death penalty in Texas.

A man is in jail accused of sexually assaulting and killing his girlfriend's two-year-old daughter, Fort Worth Police said Sunday.
Police were called to a home in the 5900 block of Wilkes Drive Thursday evening after the little girl had been injured, according to a news release issued Sunday. She was transported to Cooks Children's Hospital with head trauma and hemorrhaging.
While at the hospital, medical experts also realized the severely injured toddler had also been sexually assaulted.
Brelynn Nobles died Friday, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office. Her death was ruled a homicide by "blunt trauma to the abdomen."
When questioned about the incident Friday, Fort Worth police released very little information -- only saying they were "still interviewing the child's caregivers."
Nobles' mother said she was at work Thursday and her boyfriend, Donald Ray Sparks, Jr, was caring for her child.
Just great several popular brands of children's over the counter medicines are being recalled in the US and eleven other countries due to poor quality standards. If your child takes these common allergy or cold medicines it is advised you stop using them. The popular brands include: Tylenol, Tylenol Plus, Motrin, Zyrtec and Benadryl
The recall was not ordered by the FDA because of any adverse side effects; but are based on poor quality standards because some of the products recalled may have a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified on the bottle. Others may contain particles, while still others may contain inactive ingredients that do not meet internal testing requirements.
In addition, McNeil Consumer Healthcare is advising consumers to stop giving the products to their children as a precautionary measure. The recall was not undertaken because of any adverse effects, the company said.
The medicines were made and distributed in the United States, and exported to Canada, the Dominican Republic, Dubai, Fiji, Guam, Guatemala, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago and Kuwait.
