I am a mom of two young sons and a former elementary teacher. I have a parenting resource site, a gift and party supply site, a low cost advertising site for home based businesses and I host a moms support call in show called MamasTimeOut on Sundays at 2:30pm MST.[show on temporary break]
This is one of my worst fears with all the bullying that goes on in schools lately. I have sons, but you never know when another child/teen might harm your child. I almost think classrooms should have restrooms in them like they did in my sons kindergarten class. Do you feel like your kids are safe at school??
Did he or didn't he? It is starting to look and sound like the worst outcome is expected. Police say the father has confessed to killing his sons but have not given details of how or where they are. It's such a tragic story;one of many in recent days. So many young children who end up missing are most often found murdered and often the guilty party is someone they know such as a parent. Please pray for these sweet and innocent boys and their family. They did not deserve what happened to them. It's too bad the father was so selfish and did what he did;he was unsuccessful in attempting suicide himself,it's too bad he didn't just end his own life rather than take his anger or frustrations out on his young sons. Toledoonthemove.com has more on this story and the continued search.
MORENCI, MICH. -- As authorities and volunteers continue to search for three missing brothers from Morenci, Michigan, investigators say they have low expectations.
The search is on for any sign of 5-year-old Tanner, 7-year-old Alexander, and 9-year-old Andrew Skelton; however, during a morning press conference on Tuesday, authorities said they do not "anticipate a positive outcome" in the case after days of searching and based on information from the boys' father.
According to Morenci Police, John Skelton has admitted to FBI profilers that he killed his sons. No further details were released regarding the admission.
John Skelton, told investigators on Friday that he gave his sons to a woman named Joann Taylor before attempting to commit suicide. He said she was to take the boys to their mother's home. Authorities now say they believe Skelton lied to them about Taylor and that a reported relationship between the two does not exist.
Skelton, 39, was unsuccessful in his attempt to hang himself. He is now being treated at a mental health facility in Ohio. Police say they have been engaging in conversations with Skelton regarding where his sons may be located and that he has been forthcoming with some information. Those conversations led them to grim expectations, according to Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks. No details or specifics were provided, but Weeks says statements made by Skelton to investigators are what indicated to them that there would not be a positive outcome to this case.
Weeks says no decision has been made about charges being brought against Skelton.
The boys' mother and family have been notified that authorities are not optimistic about the case. However, searchers will continue to look for the missing brothers. When asked how the family reacted to new information given to them Tuesday, Chief Weeks said, "Imagine your worst nightmare. How would you respond?"
Crews searched areas of Williams County on Monday, including a campground where authorities believed John may have taken the boys in the past. Searchers have set up a command center in Pioneer, with searches extending to West Unity, Kunkle and Holiday City.
If you have any information you are asked to call the Morenci Police Department at 517-458-7104

Update: Ex-boyfriend arrested in death of Jenni-Lyn Watson - syracuse.com http://ht.ly/1abTbF
May Jenni rest in peace and her family and friends find peace within their hearts and minds as time goes by. It turns out her on-off again boyfriend,Steven Piper, has been arrested as a suspect in this case and is currently charged with homicide. It is unknown what the motive for her killing may have been, but police believe she was killed in her parents home and taken to the wooded area and her body was dumped like a piece of trash and covered in a shallow grave. The police reported that Steven Piper turned himself in but claims he is innocent.
Have you seen this beautiful, young, talented ballerina? Jenny Lyn Watson, has been missing since last Friday after arriving to see her family for the Thanksgiving break. Her purse, keys and wallet were found at home, but her cell phone was missing and the last signal from it came from a wooded area nearby.

Searchers scouring CNY for missing Syracuse-area student
The search is on today in New York for a college student who vanished from her family's home near Syracuse last week.
Crews are scouring a wooded area for any sign of 20-year-old Jenni-Lyn Watson. Reports indicate the area was the last place her cell phone was used. Other personal items of Watson's, including her purse and wallet, were left at her home.
She was on holiday break from Mercyhurst College when she disappeared last Friday.
Authorities say they're looking for a dark-colored truck seen near Watson's house the day she vanished.
Her disappearance is being considered a missing-persons case.
If you have any information regarding Watson's whereabouts, please call Onondaga Sheriff's Department at (315) 435-5434.
Such a sad story to hear during this holiday season. I don't blame her for not wanting to celebrate the holidays without her son. What is there to celebrate. Her son vanished a year ago after celebrating his 7th birthday. From the article it sounds like he vanished after he left to go skateboarding following his 7th birthday, but then it says two months after his birthday he vanished while in a Brooklyn foster home.
His single mother lost custody because she was caught for shoplifting. Do you think a single mother should, or any parent for that matter, should lose custody of their children for a single shoplifting incident?? I don't think that sounds right. I could see charging her with a fine for shoplifting or a few days in jail but not removing her kids from her permanently.

According to the NY Daily News, Patrick vanished while taking out the trash from his foster mom's home and cops immediately focused their attention on his biological mother.
Jennifer Rodriguez was temporarily locked up by a Staten Island family court judge who suspected she knew her son's whereabouts.
But Rodriguez - who briefly claimed one of her relatives had Patrick, before retracting her statements - was later released.
I don't know if she has a history of arrests or abuse, since the NYPOST article doesn't mention a past record and the accusations she knows her sons whereabouts appear unproven in the NY Daily News article, but if she was only caught shoplifting one time, I definitely don't think she should have lost custody of her two children. I don't blame her for suing the state for negligence in caring for her son since he vanished while in their care. I hope the state has investigated the foster family and continues their search in finding her son. How heartbreaking. I don't know what I would do without my sons, but fall apart. I wish her continued strength and prayers and hope she is able to have a second chance to prove to her children that she can be a better mother.
Jennifer Rodriguez remembers her son, Patrick Alford, blowing out the candles on his white-frosted birthday cake last year, then rushing out to play on his brand-new skateboard.
But there will be no cake for his birthday Sunday. Two months after the Staten Island boy turned 7, he vanished.
And despite one of the police department's most exhaustive searches in missing-person memory, including 1,000 interviews, and queries as far away as Florida and Puerto Rico, Patrick is no closer to being found than the day he disappeared from the Brooklyn foster home, where he was staying after Rodriguez lost custody.
Chad Rachman
HEARTACHE: Mom Jennifer Rodriguez (above) wears a T-shirt that is a desperate plea for the return of her son, Patrick.
When Patrick turns 8, Rodriguez won't be celebrating. She ignored Thanksgiving, and without her boy, Christmas and New Year's are just a couple of days on her calendar.
"His birthday is a tragedy to me this year," she said. "I'm not thankful for anything. I don't even know if my son is alive."
Much happened between the day Rodriguez sang "Happy Birthday" in her Staten Island home and the day Patrick disappeared from the East New York apartment building.
After Rodriguez, 23, a single mother, was arrested in December on a shoplifting charge, Patrick and his sister, Jailene, were sent by the city's child welfare agency to live with Librada Moran, a foster-care provider.
It was there on Jan. 22 that the homesick boy was last seen.
"I would tell Patrick, 'I'm sorry,' " Rodriguez said. " 'I'm sorry I failed you as a mother. I'm going to do my best to find you.' "
Last month, Rodriguez sued the city and its child-welfare agency, saying they failed to properly care for the boy.
She also criticized investigators for focusing, at first, on her.
"The police treated me like a suspect," Rodriguez said. "I felt like a piece of garbage. I am his biological mother, and I was the one who sought out help on my own. The city's foster agency is there to protect children, and they didn't do that for Patrick."
Rodriguez is marking Patrick's birthday with an awareness walk to her home from the ferry terminal a mile away. She will follow up the walk with another march on Jan. 22 -- the day Patrick disappeared.
"I am brokenhearted," Rodriguez said. "I need to find my son." cj.sullivan@nypost.com
Sexual harassment has now become a big problem with the new screening methods.
On twitter yesterday, one of my twitter followers mentioned this tweet:
@pamelagorman: My friend witnessed TSA guys giggling and then directing an entire high school girls sports team to go thru the strip scanner. Scum.
Below Eliana Sutherland of Maryland recalls her experience of sexual harassment by TSA agents:
One thing bothering many people is they don't believe these sometimes humiliating security procedures will really stop determined, wily terrorists -- or they don't trust the TSA workers to keep this from becoming sexual or personal.
Eliana Sutherland, a Maryland woman, said she saw male TSA screeners eyeing her and talking about her, then picking her out for the full-body scanning.
"Women know how it feels when somebody -- you know -- there is the innocent look and there is that 'let's send her through security,'" Sutherland said.
Does Sutherland feel the agents were taking advantage of their position?
"Those guards, yes," Sutherland said. "I don't want to generalize but yes those guards were."
Men, too, have had humiliating moments.
Harry Liebowitz always sets off the metal detectors because of a metal femur and other artificial parts in his body. Yet, the other day he was picked for a pat down that ended horribly.
"And when he got to the lower body, they grab your leg like this and he pulled," Liebowitz said. "And my pants came right down around my ankles...right there in full view of everybody in the airport."
People were laughing at him and he was left shaking all over at treatment he labels "embarassing" and "rude."
"I mean, to pull my pants down in public, to grab my testicles in public; I'm sorry, there has to be rules," he said.
TSA complaints and problems aren't new, but they are growing with the new security requirements. Although, the latest news reports say there have not yet been any serious delays due to protesting passengers who choose to opt out for National opt-out day. Are you flying this Thanksgiving weekend or are you choosing to drive or take other transportation to avoid the new security measures?
Thank God we are not flying and have no plans to fly in the next year or two. This Thanksgiving, I am even more thankful to have my immediate family living in driving distance. I feel bad for those who have no choice but to fly and are left to give up their personal privacy granted them under our Constitution.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Despite the nonsense going on in the world, I hope you stay safe and manage to have a joyful Thanksgiving weekend with your family and friends!
Here it comes....not only are body scanners popping up in courthouses around the country,I heard a story tonight that some nightclubs are already violating customers who want to enjoy a night of fun and dancing by putting them through pat-downs to enter. How soon will these intrusive pat-downs and full body scanners be popping up in all public buildings and modes of transportation?? It might be sooner than you think!!
Any other countries putting innocent citizens through this type of treatment? Heck, I don't even think communist China is doing this??
The worst thing is these scanners are not able to detect the substance used to make the undie bomb, PETN, and they can not detect items hidden in body cavities;which terrorists have already used in suicide bombers successfully in other countries. The pat-downs would not detect these items either, thus what's next full body cavity searches??!! Where does it end?!!
DHS and the TSA so far have said they are looking into less intrusive ways to provide security, but in the meantime don't expect those changes anytime soon and don't expect things to improve.
According to the TSA chief administrator, John Pistole, over the weekend, you can opt out of using the full-body scanner, but if you make that choice "you will receive a thorough pat-down by someone of the same gender. If you alarm either the metal detector or the [body scanner] , you will also receive a thorough pat-down by someone of the same gender."
Pistole says fliers can request that the pat-downs be conducted in a private room and can request that it be "witnessed by a person of your choice."
However, not all TSA agents have been properly trained and there have been a growing number of complaints and inconsistencies. Children under 12 have been pat-down,and disabled children and adults have been humiliated by being requested to remove leg braces to prosthetic bras!
Ryan was taking his first flight, to Walt Disney World, for his fourth birthday.
The boy is developmentally delayed, one of the effects of being born 16 weeks prematurely. His ankles are malformed and his legs have low muscle tone. In March he was just starting to walk...
The screener told them to take off the boy's braces.
The Thomases were dumbfounded. "I told them he can't walk without them on his own," Bob Thomas said.
"He said, 'He'll need to take them off.' "
Ryan's mother offered to walk him through the detector after they removed the braces, which are custom-made of metal and hardened plastic.
No, the screener replied. The boy had to walk on his own.
According to a report from TheHill.com,
The next step in tightened security could be on U.S. public transportation, trains and boats.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says terrorists will continue to look for U.S. vulnerabilities, making tighter security standards necessary.
“[Terrorists] are going to continue to probe the system and try to find a way through,” Napolitano said in an interview that aired Monday night on "Charlie Rose."
“I think the tighter we get on aviation, we have to also be thinking now about going on to mass transit or to trains or maritime. So, what do we need to be doing to strengthen our protections there?”
Napolitano’s comments were in response to the question: “What will they [terrorists] be thinking in the future?” She gave no details about how soon the public could see changes in security or about what additional safety measures the DHS was entertaining.
“The long-term [question] is, how do we get out of this having to have an ever-increasing security apparatus because of terrorists and a terrorist attack?” she said. “I think having a better understanding of what causes someone to become a terrorist will be helpful."
DHS and intelligence officials are not as far along in understanding that process as they would like, Napolitano said, adding that until that goal is reached, steps need to be put in place to ensure the public’s safety.
“We don’t know much,” she said. “If you were to try and devise a template about what connects this terrorist to this terrorist and how they were raised and what schools they went to and their socioeconomic status, or this or that, it’s all over the map.
“I think there’s some important work that’s being done on that but … the Secretary of Homeland Security cannot wait for that.”
Give me a break;she doesn't know much! The common denominator of these terrorists has been Islam&extremists Muslim's or converts who wish to terrorize not only the US but create havoc, murder and jihad throughout the world!!
Therefore, the next big thing is the possibility DHS may turn to using scanners that store biometrics, which could further violate personal privacy and continue to look at everyone as a criminal rather than a customer or innocent law abiding citizen.
According to a report by GCNlive.com,
the TSA and Homeland Security authorities may be preparing a body scanner bait and switch, by proposing new devices that advocates claim do not see under clothing and do not emit dangerous radiation, yet do store a biometric record of the person using them which would grease the skids for authorities to track individuals in real time.
A video demonstration of the new body scanner proposes that it be used not just in airports, but also banks and retail establishments, apartment blocks and other transport hubs. How long before we’re forced to submit to a body scan to go shopping, cash a check, catch a bus, or simply to enter our own home? This will be the first step towards a truly frightening Minority Report-style electronic prison.
according to Iscon, the company behind the new 1000D whole body scanner. Its makers claim that the device doesn’t fire harmful radiation at the user and that the machine does not display details of naked bodies. However, since both these claims were also made by the TSA and later proven to be completely fraudulent, they should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt.
The new device uses thermo-conductive infrared technology that completes a 360*scan of the human body in 30 seconds, capturing every facet of biometric data. Although the video demonstration claims that the device “does not create any privacy issues,” the fact that the government will have the blanket power to use technology designed to catch criminals on the general public is an obvious violation of privacy.
Introducing biometric scanners will only entrench the notion of Americans being guilty until proven innocent. Indeed, Iscon brags that it has already introduced such devices into U.S. prisons. Furthermore, allied with cutting edge satellite and other surveillance technology, once the government has the biometric blueprint for your whole body it greases the skids for the ultimate Orwellian nightmare, real time tracking of an individual person around the clock.
The government has a keen interest in collecting and compiling biometric data on citizens. The FBI announced a $1 billion effort to build the world’s largest computer database of peoples’ physical characteristics, a project that would give the government unprecedented abilities to identify individuals in the United States and abroad, the Washington Post reported in December of 2007.
The Department of Homeland Security has collected biometrics for years, including the use of iris scans at certain airports under the guise of identity verification of travelers who have passed background checks and want to move through lines quickly. “The department is also looking to apply iris- and face-recognition techniques to other programs,” the Post added.
So, there you have it...is this the next step to fighting terrorism by treating everyone like a criminal &suspect requiring men, women, children&nuns to unconstitutional search and seizure? Or will American's protest this to the point that the airlines will have to take a stand for their customers rights and stop the TSA by hiring their own airport security?
Unfortunately, this won't help as of right now either, because private airport security must follow federal TSA guidelines, so unless TSA is defunded and dismantled by Congress nobody is safe from the TSA and this federal intrusion on our Constitutional, human&civil rights! [Except the politicians and administration themselves, and perhaps Muslim&jihadi terrorists themselves!]
Taking a trip during the holidays isn't the only time that people might get a full-body scan to pass through security. People heading to court to testify, get a restraining order, pay a ticket or answer criminal charges could also face a full-body scan at courthouses.
The U.S. Marshals Service, which is in charge of protecting federal judges nationwide, is exploring their use at federal courthouses. And two state courthouses in Douglas and El Paso counties in Colorado have already deployed full-body scanners that use radio waves to detect all objects on a person, including paper.
A guard in a separate room monitors the gray images with pixelated faces and genital areas, and the images aren't stored on a computer. officials said. All visitors to the Douglas County Courthouse in Castle Rock, Colo., undergo full-body scans, while guards at the El Paso County Judicial Center in Colorado Springs use the scanners during peak hours.
Angela Hellenbrand received a quick pat down Tuesday by security guard Mike Couts at the Castle Rock courthouse about 30 miles south of Denver. A guard in another room monitoring the full-body scans alerted Couts to an object in Hellenbrand's left rear pocket. It was the paper backing of a "Junior Deputy Sheriff" sticker that one of the guards had given her two young boys.
The new security techniques are meant to thwart plots by would-be terrorists to use liquid explosives and bombs hidden in shoes and inside underwear. Court observers note that the threat in a courtroom is somewhat different.
"What we are still worried about at a courthouse is angry divorce litigants with a gun," said Sam Kamin, a law professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. "Metal detectors are pretty good at that."
Still, court officials note that evolving technology in materials, including plastic guns and knives, aren't detected by the 1970s technology of metal detectors.
"Although we have no current plans for deployment, the U.S. Marshals Service believes in the technology," said Washington-based Michael Prout, assistant director for judicial security for the U.S. marshals. "We will continue to explore the use of body scanners as a security measure for the federal judiciary."
In a statement, the marshals said they didn't receive any complaints from people passing through the scanners during the tests. The images of the full-body scans were saved on a computer hard drive, but weren't accessible without an administrative password and weren't reviewed by the marshals, according to the agency.
Hmm...so much for federal background checks?? Of course if they've never been caught molesting or committing a crime you don't know who that stranger is patting you down & touching your junk! Feeling any better about the new airport security yet??
Another reason TSA needs to end the groping of every passenger and start using intelligence, common sense and behavior profiling!!
A TSA employee remained hospitalized today after being accused of kidnapping a young female in Atlanta, then taking her to his Hogansville residence and sexually assaulting her.
Randall Scott King, whose age and street address were not given, abducted the woman Wednesday evening from a MARTA parking lot at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, police said.
The alleged victim said after the assault, she was released by her captor, who gave her a suicide note and instructions on where to deliver it.
Union City police alerted Hogansville police about the incident early Thursday.
Hogansville officers obtained search warrants and found King at his residence with what appeared to be self-inflicted wounds. Police did not describe the type or extent of his wounds. King was airlifted to Columbus Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition this morning.
Criminal warrants against King were obtained by MARTA and Hogansville police. The charges were not specified.
King was identified as an employee of the federal Transportation Safety Administration, which is assisting in the investigation.
Hogansville police said the investigation is ongoing and further details will be released when the probe is completed.
Update 2:Did #TSA agent masturbate while viewing HS volleyball team full body scans?! http://amplify.com/u/fwut Click here for a story update and images.
Update: Body Scanner Operator Caught masturbating!!!
DENVER – USA – A full body scanner operator was caught masturbating during a scanning session by airport staff late Tuesday.
Airport officials at Denver International airport were on high alert yesterday when a full body scanner operator was caught masturbating in his booth as a team of High School netball players went through the scanner.
“The young ladies were going through the scanner one by one, and every time one went through, this guys face was getting redder and redder. His hand was moving and then he started sweating. He was then seen doing his ‘O’ face. That’s when the security dragged him out of his booth and cuffed him. He had his pants round his ankles and everybody was really disgusted,” Jeb Rather, a passenger on a flight to New York told CBS news.
When will the madness end? How many more of these stories will we see before the TSA and DHS realizes this is not an effective way to screen for terrorists? It's time to start profiling and not just by race or gender but by behavior!
The invasive groping and prodding continues against children by the TSA. What happened to the policy that children under 12 were not going to be pat-down?? I continue to find stories about children getting groped&violated by TSA[or has it become TNA] agents.
DHS and the DOJ are currently suing a sovereign state, Arizona for passing SB-1070, the controversial immigration enforcement law, that would allow all law enforcement agencies to basically have the power that those authorized under DHS are able to do with 287g, ask for proof of citizenship if pulled over or caught violating a criminal act. Yet, law-abiding citizens can't board planes without giving away their right to illegal search and seizure as protected in the 4th amendment of the Constitution. This is outrageous and needs to end.
Please continue to share these stories and speak out against this behavior; for those who are willing to give up their freedoms for security will soon deserve and have neither. What this type of security is doing is giving people a false sense of security, while violating our rights, instead of addressing the real problem.Read more at littlebytesnews.blogspot.com [see upd
Like Lucretia, I have been sharing &hearing multiple stories on the recent public outrage against the new TSA enhanced pat-downs and new/nude scanning requirements. I thought Lucretia summed up what this submission to the government could lead to and why it is so important for all of us not to be apathetic, but involved in ending this intrusion on our freedoms!
For those who want to dismiss these pat-downs off as non-invasive, like Gloria Allred, who says 'it's the most she's been touched in years and enjoyed it', and those who do not call these pat-downs sexual assault or harassment, I give you the definition of sexual assault as provided by the National Center for Victims of Crime:
Sexual assault takes many forms including attacks such as rape or attempted rape, as well as any unwanted sexual contact or threats. Usually a sexual assault occurs when someone touches any part of another person's body in a sexual way, even through clothes, without that person's consent. Some types of sexual acts which fall under the category of sexual assault include forced sexual intercourse (rape), sodomy (oral or anal sexual acts), child molestation, incest, fondling and attempted rape. Sexual assault in any form is often a devastating crime. Assailants can be strangers, acquaintances, friends, or family members. Assailants commit sexual assault by way of violence, threats, coercion, manipulation, pressure or tricks. Whatever the circumstances, no one asks or deserves to be sexually assaulted.
Therefore, anyone who wants to travel freely in this world and our country, the land of the free, should be able to do so without being groped, scanned, prodded and poked by complete strangers!
Obviously anyone who has been a victim of rape or any sort of sexual assault would be very sensitive to flying and having to succumb to such a violation of their body and privacy. I could imagine it would or could create additional anxiety and trauma for those people, not to mention if you already have a fear of flying.
Children who are innocent to the world and would not otherwise have anyone touch them in these private areas should not be touched in places we teach them are not to be touched by anyone but themselves or a trusted doctor with mommy or daddy nearby. However, the point is the process is a violation of our privacy and our 4th amendment rights whether we are small children, nuns, grandmas, grandpas, breast cancer or bladder cancer survivors with medical devices or prosthetics! None of us should have to forgo our rights because of a few terrorists who spent less than 4000.00 building a silly undie bomb or brought 2.00 box cutters on a plane. We should not be spending millions, if not billions of taxpayers dollars buying radiation machines and paying TSA agents with no more than a high school diploma or GED touching and poking us in our most private areas of our body! It's time to take a stand, regardless of religion, race, political party or age! All of us are becoming victims of harassment and sexual assault and being told to comply or pay a fine up to $11,000.00 or don't fly! We can't let things get to the point where we are having to do this in every public facility or transportation mode we take, as Lucretia points out. Speak out and demand our government use a reasonable method of security, such as behavior profiling and have them spend those millions or billions of dollars on people with the training and education needed in law enforcement, psychology and criminal behavior handle security without violating every passengers rights! This is unreasonable search and seizure not only of our persons but of our freedoms, rights and belongings.
I've been sporadically posting accounts of recent experiences of everyday people with the new TSA security measures. Cancer survivors, persons with disabilities, children, elderly, and now as I'm finally getting caught up - someone I've had the chance to get to know. Someone who lovingly stopped and signed her book for me last winter when we were together in Nashville, despite the fact that she was in a hurry.
Someone I know, who wrote more candidly than I think I'd be able to just exactly the level of non-consensual, uninformed, public & humiliating sexual assault she'd experienced. While traveling with her infant. Alone.
An Open Letter to Americans and their Elected Representatives:
To those who use try to excuse these recent cases of blatant sexual assault and demeaning public humiliation by TSA agents?
I have heard you say so many places elsewhere ....
See the rest of her post via the reamp link above. It's worth reading her response to her friend Erin's sexual assault while traveling alone with her infant son. Until we all become more involved and proactive this type of nanny-state government will continue to escalate and little by little we will have given up all for nothing and a false sense of security. Maybe you don't fly often or don't fly at all, but those of us who do need your support and those of us who stay complacent will soon be herded along, told what to eat, drink, how much power to use and when, what car to drive to whether you can use your cell phone while driving to what health care your doctor can give you. Wake up, because when they came for our security and took our rights away little by little eventually we will have no rights and no freedoms and we will live in a controlled and communist country. But, you say it can't happen here?? Those who deny history are doomed to repeat it.
The invasive groping and prodding continues against children by the TSA. What happened to the policy that children under 12 were not going to be pat-down?? I continue to find stories about children getting groped&violated by TSA[or has it become TNA] agents.
This is out of control;more and more people, the airlines especially, need to speak out against this. It's bad enough we have to be corralled into these lines and go through the metal detectors and occasionally pat-down if we sound off an alarm, but now this! Fox News reported earlier that the passengers are not required to be pat-down or go through the full body scanners unless they sound off an alarm while passing through the metal detector, but this is not what I have seen happening. The reports I've seen have shown the pat-downs or the full body scans as a passengers only alternative and if you refuse either you could be find up to $11,000.00. Hillary Clinton and Obama claim this is the best method to prevent another underwear bomber boarding a plane, however the underwear bomber boarded a plane overseas where they don't use these same detection methods. In addition, the PETN substance he used to make the bomb can not be detected by any of these forms of security invasion. The full body scanners, the metal detectors and the pat-downs most likely would not have detected it. The best method of preventing these terrorists from boarding our planes is to profile behavior patterns, not just whether they are showing signs of fidgeting or otherwise, but whether they have purchased only a one-way ticket with no luggage or travel frequently to terrorist countries or if they are here on a Visa.
Children should especially be exempted from any of these intrusive pat-downs and body scans, but overall these pat-downs and body scans should only be done on people who fit behavioral profiles of those who could pose a threat. It does not have to be based on religion or sex. Israel's profiling is done based primarily on behavior, from what I understand passengers aren't even required to remove their shoes! ABC News reports today that despite the TSA administrator earlier saying they would not change security procedures, that now John Pistole says he is willing to consider some changes, but what those changes might be are not clear. I hope it includes using behavior profiling, interviewing passengers& hiring trained private contractors in law enforcement and psychology who know what to look for. American citizens with their innocent children should not treated like the enemy and herded like cattle through security check points, that the DHS isn't even willing to use against illegals who bypass our borders! This is outrageous abuse of power and conflicts with protecting law abiding citizens.
What this type of security is doing is giving people a false sense of security, while violating our rights, instead of addressing the real problem.
What are some of your kids must have toys or books this year? My sons have been wanting walkie-talkies for awhile, but were kind of young for them. Although, they tried using the baby monitors as walkie talkies, even though only one person could actually hear the other since they are designed for one sided listening¬ conversation.
These new walkie-talkies look like they might be durable and fun for our boys;while also helping them learn conversational skills &letter recognition skills with the added texting feature. I know my sons would also love the light saber, especially my oldest who was Darth Vader for Halloween because the one we had bought him didn't light up. But, we are going to try to keep the number of toys they get limited this year, hopefully to one toy each from us and one from Santa; as many times most toys become a novelty that wears off quickly.
I'd like a new ipod with a radio for my walks, but not sure I'll get it this year. I'm still trying to figure out what else I'd like and what to get my husband, but we will try to keep our budget conservative this year. Share your list of top toys for you and the kids!

OTTAWA — That's a big Christmas season 10-4, good buddy for Walkie-Talkies.
The toy for talkative tykes was given top honours by the Canadian Toy Testing Council, which on Friday released its 2011 list of can't miss gifts for parents looking for safe and reliable play things to put under the tree.
The top award for 2011 — given to the best battery-operated toy — was VTech's Text and Chat Walkie-Talkies, a new twist on an old favourite, according to company president Gordon Chow.
"We added a lot of features to the toy. We're now able to send little text messages between the two walkie-talkies. Games (were) built into the walkie-talkies as well," he said, noting the toy has a standard range of one kilometre and retails for about $44.99.
"It just added those extra play values for the kids to have really a lot more fun than just talking to each other."
Wireupdate.com posted about this horror story today;which apparently took place on Friday. The Airport location is not mentioned but you can see the poor kid having to take his shirt off to appease the strip searchers! What happened to the policy of not doing pat-downs on kids under 12?? This boy looks no older than my six year old son!! How outrageous!! I am so thankful we will not and are not travelling anytime soon!
(WIREUPDATE) — A disturbing video surfaced on Friday night showing what appears to be a TSA agent strip searching a young boy, with his father standing nearby. The video, which was uploaded to Youtube by user lukemtait, was filmed while a boy was randomly selected to undergo a random security check.
The TSA defends the procedures as necessary in light of last years “underwear bomber” and the recent issues involving printer cartridges being used in an attempt to blow up cargo planes.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations, CAIR, has expressed concern with the TSA over the regulations and recommended special procedures for dealing with Muslim women. The organization issued a travel advisory for Muslims over the procedure.
In the advisory CAIR advises all Muslims to contact them and file a complaint with the TSA if they experience any “disturbing incidents” with the new procedures and they feel they have been unfairly singled out for screening.
It goes on to make special recommendations for Muslim women wearing a hijab covering their face. The advisory says women are to inform the officer they are only to pat down the head and neck and says “They should not subject you to a full-body or partial body pat-down.” They also recommend that women should be permitted to pat themselves down and “have the officers perform a chemical swipe of your hands.”
Barack Obama’s Homeland Security Czar, Janet Napolitano, is considering changes to the procedures to address the issues raised by CAIR.
A retired special education teacher on his way to a wedding in Orlando, Fla., said he was left humiliated, crying and covered with his own urine after an enhanced pat-down by TSA officers recently at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
“I was absolutely humiliated, I couldn’t even speak,” said Thomas D. “Tom” Sawyer, 61, of Lansing, Mich.
Sawyer is a bladder cancer survivor who now wears a urostomy bag, which collects his urine from a stoma, or opening in his stomach. “I have to wear special clothes and in order to mount the bag I have to seal a wafer to my stomach and then attach the bag. If the seal is broken, urine can leak all over my body and clothes.”
On Nov. 7, Sawyer said he went through the security scanner at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. “Evidently the scanner picked up on my urostomy bag, because I was chosen for a pat-down procedure.”
Due to his medical condition, Sawyer asked to be screened in private. “One officer looked at another, rolled his eyes and said that they really didn’t have any place to take me,” said Sawyer. “After I said again that I’d like privacy, they took me to an office.”
Sawyer wears pants two sizes too large in order to accommodate the medical equipment he wears. He’d taken off his belt to go through the scanner and once in the office with security personnel, his pants fell down around his ankles. “I had to ask twice if it was OK to pull up my shorts,” said Sawyer, “And every time I tried to tell them about my medical condition, they said they didn’t need to know about that.”
…“One agent watched as the other used his flat hand to go slowly down my chest. I tried to warn him that he would hit the bag and break the seal on my bag, but he ignored me. Sure enough, the seal was broken and urine started dribbling down my shirt and my leg and into my pants.”
The security officer finished the pat-down, tested the gloves for any trace of explosives and then, Sawyer said, “He told me I could go. They never apologized. They never offered to help. They acted like they hadn’t seen what happened. But I know they saw it because I had a wet mark.”
Humiliated, upset and wet, Sawyer said he had to walk through the airport soaked in urine, board his plane and wait until after takeoff before he could clean up.
It's never too late to teach your children to help others and what better time of year to get started than the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.
Your kids can learn the true value of being thankful by helping those who are less fortunate whether at a soup kitchen helping to feed the poor and homeless or at a nursing home cheering up lonely elderly patients during the holidays, or giving away toys for tots or gifts for kids in foster care or group homes, your kids will learn to enjoy volunteering and learn to appreciate what they have. There are many ways to reach out and give to others. Learn more by checking out Dr. Mary Zurn's site and Primrose Schools and try her steps to guide your family into volunteering.
We all want our children to grow up to be compassionate adults who want to help others. That's why we're always on the lookout for good ways to encourage character and development. Our good friends at Primrose Schools, the leader in educational childcare, recommend that parents make an effort to introduce volunteerism at a young age.
That's why Dr. Mary Zurn, Vice President of Education for Primrose, is offering parents the four easy steps outlined below to start their children on a path to meaningful volunteerism.
Here are 4 Steps to getting your family interested in volunteering:
Step 1: Clarify your personal goals and motives for wanting to include your child in volunteer activities. Volunteering is a wonderful way to a share your values with your child. Pick a cause that is meaningful to you and your family rather than one that is simply convenient.
Step 2: Explain the importance of volunteerism and the contribution volunteers can make.A child's favorite question is "why?" Keep your answers simple and concrete. For example, if you are going to volunteer at the food bank, tell your child that "The food bank has lots of food for people who need it, and it will be our job to sort the food so that people are able to find what they need."
Step 3: Choose volunteer activities to do with your children that are age-appropriate.Children as young as three can begin volunteering. At this age they begin to enjoy participation in group activities and are better able to follow directions. Remember that a preschooler's concept of the world is not very large and is usually limited primarily to their home, neighborhood and school; therefore, it is important to keep the activity within the realm of what they can imagine. A few examples:
Participate in "clean the park" activities. Be sure to have your child wear gloves.
Take recyclables to recycling collection centers.
Act as a companion to the elderly in retirement or assisted living homes. Simply listening to their stories and relieving their loneliness provides multiple benefits for the senior citizen and your child.
Participate in local races and walks that raise money for a charitable cause that you think is important; most races have a shorter race for children.
Sort food at a food bank. Be sure to confirm that children are welcome to volunteer and that it will be a safe environment.
Step 4: Find a child-friendly not-for-profit. Ask the following questions to help you select the volunteer opportunity that is right for your family:
Does the organization have experience with and a history of successfully working with children and families? Will the organization provide me with a reference from another family who has volunteered with them?
Will the organization staff welcome my child's participation?
Is there a specific job that my child can do successfully? Who will show my children what to do?
Are there special clothes or supplies needed for my child to volunteer with this organization?
Does the organization conduct appropriate background screenings on its staff? Does the organization have insurance if there is an accident while your family is volunteering?
Can the organization provide a concrete example that will help your child understand how his or her efforts benefit others?

Disclosure: I was entered for a chance to win a gift card in exchange for this post. No monetary exchange took place.
The TSA agent took all of my belongings over to the table in the center of the explosive screening tables. She asked me, “Are you aware of the NEW policies for carrying liquids through security that were instated 4 years ago?” (capitalized to show the emphasis that she placed on that word.)
I replied, “Yes, I fly with him every several weeks.”
She scanned the formula, then turned to me and said, “Remove your shoes and stand on that black mat for a patdown.”
I said, “OK, what do I do with the baby?”
“You cannot be holding him.” (I am traveling alone.)
So I placed him into his stroller. She instructed me, “Spread your feet apart and hold your arms out to the side.” I obliged.
She patted my left arm, my right arm, my upper back and my lower back. She then said, “I need to reach in and feel along the inside of your waistband.”
She felt along my waistline, moved behind me, then proceeded to feel both of my buttocks. She reached from behind in the middle of my buttocks towards my vagina area.
She did not tell me that she was going to touch my buttocks, or reach forward to my vagina area.
She then moved in front of my and touched the top and underneath portions of both of my breasts.
She did not tell me that she was going to touch my breasts.
She then felt around my waist. She then moved to the bottoms of my legs.
She then felt my inner thighs and my vagina area, touching both of my labia.
She did not tell me that she was going to touch my vagina area or my labia.
She then told me that I could put my shoes on and I asked if I could pick up the baby, she replied Yes.
She then moved back to my belongings to finish scanning them with the paper discs for explosives. When she finished she said I was free to go.
I stood there holding my baby in shock. I did not move for almost a minute.
I stood there, an American citizen, a mom traveling with a baby with special needs formula, sexually assaulted by a government official. I began shaking and felt completely violated, abused and assaulted by the TSA agent. I shook for several hours, and woke up the next day shaking.
Here is why I was sexually assaulted. She never told me the new body search policy. She never told me that she was going to touch my private parts. She never told me when or where she was going to touch me. She did not inform me that a private screening was available. She did not inform me of my rights that were a part of these new enhanced patdown procedures.
When I booked my ticket, I was given no information that the TSA had changed their wand and unintrusive patdown procedures to “enhanced” patdown procedures that involved the touching of all parts of your body, including breasts and vagina on women and testicles and penis on men. I was not informed by any signs on the front side of security about the new procedures. I had not seen any media coverage about the issue, so I had no idea that this was a new government sanctioned policy.
Another important piece in this story, the Dayton airport does not have the new body scanners. I was not given any other search options. It was enhanced patdown, or nothing. (And I would have opted for the body scanner, if I were going to be subject to a sexual assault.)
I asked to speak to a supervisor immediately. I had a very unpleasant conversation with him that lasted 20 minutes. I moved to the back of the security area, made a few phone calls, including to my lawyer. He did some quick research, and learned that I had indeed been sexually assaulted because she did not follow the SOP (standard operating procedure) for the new search.
The latest outrage and big story of the week has been the new enhanced screening techniques that have been implemented by the TSA at national airports. These intrusive new screening techniques require everyone to either get a full body scan with potentially harmful exposure to radiation;while allowing the TSA agents in an another room to view virtually nude pictures of passengers;which are supposed to be deleted but have been found saved in some cases&posted online, or if you choose not to do the body scanner you are left with no other choice but to go through a full body pat-down, which violates a persons entire body while allowing a TSA agent/complete stranger to grope you on your most private areas. Some have described the groping as sexual assault by a stranger because they are authorized to touch breasts&feel around them on women;along with grope&feel men, women and children over age 12 in private areas that only you, your spouse or a doctor are allowed to touch! Some airports are considering private contractors to do the screenings, but this still doesn't eliminate the intrusive process because private contractors are required to follow the federal screening procedures that the TSA uses.
The most recent outrage is this story of a flight attendant who survived cancer being forced to remove her prosthetic bra. Flight attendant's fly quite often obviously, along with pilots;putting them through continuous body scans with radiation and intrusive pat downs is ineffective and inefficient. Several airline unions have complained about this while some pilots are suing because they feel they're rights are being violated. Recently, Fox News reported that the TSA is considering waiving or altering the requirements for Pilots;I am not sure if this includes Flight Attendants, but the bottom line is that this method needs to be done away with and other more reasonable methods need to be used. Several passengers are also filing recent lawsuits.
As you can see from the variety of never-ending stories, links, pictures and videos below there are many outrageous stories&humorous ways to look at it, but all indicate that the majority of American's are opposed to the new screening techniques and feel their 4th Amendment rights are being violated. Others consider this a loss to the terrorists;by allowing the terrorists to take our freedoms away while touching us in private places.
