New Jersey Mother wants to become world's fattest woman

This mother is not only killing herself, but she is not leading a good example for her children, especially her young daughter who could grow up to be like her mother if her eating habits are anything like her moms. I can't believe her husband encourages this behavior and allows her to have a website where other men donate food and money to help her sustain a diet of gluttony, in exchange for watching her eat her way to death. They are contributing to her increased chance of mortality.  It is almost a form of abuse; in that her husband and other family members are neglecting their responsibilities as adults to provide her with proper medical care and a healthy diet. Of course she is an adult and is free to do what she wants as long as she isn't harming others, but ultimately she is harming her children by not taking care of herself. She says she feels fine or is healthy now, but it is inevitable she will die from being morbidly obese. The human body and organs can only take so much, just as people die from malnutrition and low weight. Her actions and those of the adults who contribute to her obesity obsession are shameful and should be punishable by neglect laws.  I wonder who pays her medical bills?? If she's on disability for her obesity, she is abusing the federal Medicare system by continuing on this destructive path and should be forced to diet or pay her own medical expenses. If she is on federal Medicare, this is a case where the government needs to cut off the umbilical cord and let her grow up and fend for herself.  What do you think??

Donna Simpson already weighs 43st [about 605lbs], but she is determined to nearly double her size to become the world's fattest woman.

The 42-year-old from New Jersey, U.S, is set on reaching the 1,000lb mark (71st) in just two years. Remarkably she insists she is healthy, despite now needing a mobility scooter when she goes shopping.

Donna Simpson

'My favourite food is sushi, but unlike others I can sit and eat 70 big pieces of sushi in one go,' she said.

'I do love cakes and sweet things, doughnuts are my favourite.'

Donna, who wears XXXXXXXL dresses, eats mounds of junk food and tries to move as little as possible.

Ms Simpson already holds the Guinness World Record as the world's fattest mother, when she gave birth in 2007 weighing 38stone.

She needed a team of 30 medics to deliver her daughter Jacqueline during a high-risk Caesarean birth.

Yet although she can only move 20ft before needing to sit down, she wants to be even bigger.

'I'd love to be 1,000lb,' she said.

'It might be hard though. Running after my daughter keeps my weight down.'

Donna Simpson

Ms Simpson can no longer walk more than 20ft before needing to sit down. She goes to the shops in a mobility scooter

You might expect her long-term partner Philippe, 49, to advise her to slim down, but instead he encourages her to eat more.

He met Donna on a dating site for plus-size people and is a self-confessed fat admirer, although he himself only weighs 150lbs.

'I think he'd like it if I was bigger,' said Donna.

'He's a real belly man, and completely supports me.'

To achieve her goal, Donna says she will need to eat up to 12,000 calories a day (the average woman should consume only 2,000.)

To fund the massive $750 weekly food shop, she runs a website where men pay her to watch her eat fast food.

Donna's weight problem began early. Her mother made big meals for Donna and her brothers and gave them lots of treats and fattening food.

By the time Donna was nine, she weighed 13 stone.

'Food was her way of showing she loved us, she wanted us to eat, and she was very protective of us,' Ms Simpson said.

'She wouldn't let anyone say anything bad to us about our weight. She would argue with doctors who said it was dangerous.' Donna Simpson

Donna Simpson poses for a photograph with her daughter, Jacqueline. It took 30 medics to deliver her.

Donna's mother died soon after, and her dad married a woman who put the children on a strict diet.

'I used to steal food from the cupboards, which were still full because my mum used to store food,' she said.

But as she got older, Donna began to worry about her weight and started taking diet pills.
Between the ages 14 and 18 she slimmed down to 11 stone, but was still unhappy.

'Dieting just made me miserable because I was thinking about food all the time.,' she said.

After she left school, Donna got a desk job and no longer felt the need to fit in with other girls.

'I felt so much better when the weight came back,' she said.

'It felt like who I was meant to be.'

When Donna was 19 she met her first husband, who worked as a chef at a steak restaurant.

'He worked night shifts and would come home at 2 or 3am and bring the leftovers with him,' she said.

'We'd stay up and eat huge piles of steak, mashed potatoes, and gravy with butter.

'I started gaining weight quickly and my husband liked it.

'He said I was sexier when I was bigger, and I felt happier too.'

When she was 27, Donna weighed 25 stone, and fell pregnant with her eldest son, Devin. Her marriage ended soon after and she turned to food for comfort.

By the age of 31, she weighed 43 stone and decided to try and lose weight. She lost five stones in six months and was due to have a gastric band operation.

But just before she was due to go under the knife, her friend died during a similar operation.

'That was a sign for me,' Ms Simpson said.

'I decided it just wasn't worth it. I like being the way I am.'

Donna, then 37 stone, came across a website which celebrated obese women.

When she admitted her real size, Donna was flooded with emails from men.

'They sent me gifts through the post, like protein shakes to help me put on weight faster,' she said.

And she unrepentant of her weight-gain goal, despite risking her own life in the process.

'I love eating and people love watching me eat,' she said.

'It makes people happy, and I'm not harming anyone.'

Recipe Magic:Peppermint Whip Cream and Hot Chocolate #Christmas #parents #kids

After a day of baking and decorating Christmas cookies with my sons, we finished the day with some warm hot chocolate topped with peppermint whip cream. I'm not much of a cook or crafts person but this was a quick and easy;yet tasty new recipe I tried that I found at makeandtakes.com. Marie has a great blog with all kinds of neat recipes, crafts and projects for the whole family. It took minutes to make and seconds to drink with a cup of hot chocolate. I am thinking this would be a neat topping for cakes or cupcakes anytime of year. Makes me want to try other candies or flavors in whip cream in the future.  This would definitely be great at your next Christmas or holiday party or for sipping around the fire after baking or taking in the neighborhood Christmas lights.

This stuff is really magic. Mostly because it is gone is seconds as your guests will pile huge dollops into their hot cocoa. My sweet sister-in-law, Jeanne, first introduced this to me years ago and I have been making it for parties ever since.

Peppermint Whipped Cream Recipe:

* 5 peppermint candy canes – or spearmint candies work too
* 16 oz. heavy whipping cream – or 16 oz of frozen whipped cream
* blender
* hot cocoa

1. Unwrap your candy canes and add them to your blender. Crush these into a fine powder. 5 candy canes will make almost 1/2 of a cup.

2. Whip your whipping cream. No need to add any sweetener here, as your peppermint will give it enough sugar and flavoring.

3. Add all of your peppermint powder to your whipped cream and mix. It makes a fun pink cream and there are even some tiny chunks that are yummy too.

Enjoy!! Share some of your favorite holiday recipes or let me know if you tried this one too! Have a Merry Christmas and safe and happy season!

Obama the Grinch...Me, Myself and I??

President Barack Obama reads books, including his new book Of Thee I Sing, to approximately 90 2nd graders at Long Branch Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia on December 17, 2010. UPI/Olivier Douliery/POOL Photo via Newscom

I thought this was an honest, yet funny view of Obama's recent book reading to second grade students in Florida this past week. You may recall, the book Obama chose to read, in addition to the famous poem, The Night Before Christmas, was his own children's book, Of Thee I Sing. I think it should have been named, Me, Myself and I, as our President likes to make everything about him in some way.

For example, if he's not extending the former 'Bush Tax Cuts' and renaming them the 'Obama Tax Cuts', he's telling his audience that the American people 'ought to be thanking him', for what I'm not sure since we have a national 9.8% unemployment and stalled economic growth. This week he was seen reading his book to children, a week before Christmas, but instead of wishing the children a Merry Christmas, he snubbed one young boy who asked for his signature, by saying he'd have to do it for everyone if he did it for him. What happened to the spirit of Christmas and season of giving? Then before departing, he left the young children with a sense of guilt by reminding them to remember other children who may not be as fortunate as they open their gifts on Christmas morning. [See Video below]

While remembering the less fortunate during Christmas, or anytime of year is nice and something we should teach our children, I don't think our children should be told to do so on Christmas morning while they are enjoying their gifts. This humorous piece from American Thinker sums up how Obama is like the Grinch when he's off the teleprompter, what do you think?

When out spreading good cheer, Obama is famous for referencing himself. Why, just last week the President congratulated the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Chinese dissident and prisoner Liu Xiaobo, by reminiscing about the Michelle and Barry 2009 Extravagant Oslo Experience. Thus, with thousands of children’s books to read it’s not surprising Barack chose one that he himself authored.

For the book reading, America’s impassive President sat on a “wooden chair as the children sat cross-legged on the carpet,” giving credence to the affectionate label “rug rats.” In keeping with the holiday spirit, Obama selected “‘Of Thee I Sing,’ an illustrated volume in the form of a letter to his daughters describing the lives of 13 great Americans.”

Being careful not to misquote Honest Abe a second time, Obama moved to the back of the book to remind the children that Lincoln “helped to end slavery in the United States.”

Barack then lent his valuable signature to a copy of “Of Thee I Sing” for the school library, leaving one little entrepreneurial autograph seeker disappointed, contending that “If I sign autographs, then I'd have to sign for everybody.”

Obama said one reason he dropped by Long Branch is that Sasha and Malia don't always let him read to them - a revelation that may explain Barry’s extra-presidential evening activities. The President gave his young charges a glimpse into great moments in history with a short lesson on lawn consideration, biodegradable fertilizer and the joy of owning a pet.

Off-teleprompter Obama told the kids he takes his dog Bo for a walk at night and, being conscientious, shared that “Sometimes I have to scoop up his poop, because I don't want to just leave it in the lawn” (a scenario strangely similar to the task that lies ahead for Congress in the coming months)!

First, the President told the children, “I hope you guys have fun.” Then, amidst the festive mood, Obama “went straight to his work” filling the stockings of the merry tots with sobering reality. The President reminded the children, on Christmas morning when opening presents they should “spend time thinking about the less fortunate.”

The President gifted already anxious seven and eight year-olds with additional concern, which was a strange way to wish second graders Merry Christmas. Obama told them that “Not everybody is as lucky as we are. There are a lot of kids out there who may not be able to get a lot of presents for Christmas because their parents don't have a lot of money.”

So, after simultaneously spreading literacy, holiday cheer and a good dose of worrisome guilt, Obama left the kids to go back to the White House to tend to dog poop, while Long Branch teachers were probably trying to get four dozen children to stop crying.

#tcot this one is priceless

Open-mouthed smile emoticon
Enjoy!

Read the following explanation before looking at the picture!

Most Syrians struggle to even read Arabic, much less have a clue about reading English.

So, how do a group of Syrian protest leaders create the most impact with their signs by having the standard 'Death To Americans' (etc) slogans printed in English?

Answer:

They simply hire an English-speaking civilian to translate and write their statements into English.

Unfortunately, in this case, they were unaware that the 'civilian' insurance company employee hired for the job was a retired US Army Sergeant! Obviously, the results were PRICELESS!
This picture is not doctored.

Digital Toys for Today's Hi-Tech Kids #parents #kids #gifts #Christmas

Need some last minute gift ideas for your little monkeys...check out some of these cool digital toys from the AP gift guide, there's something fun for all ages and all price ranges:

LeapFrog's Leapster Explorer ($70, ages 4-9) skews slightly older with a design that looks like a handheld gaming system. Indeed, it uses games to teach kids reading, match, geography, science and music. The Explorer also has a camera for taking photos and recording video.

For the robot-lover:
As far as toys go, 2010 is the year of robots, with animatronic friends taking the form of everything from astronauts to sanitation trucks.
Fans of this year's "ToyStory 3" will recognize Ultimate Buzz Lightyear ($150, ages 8 and up), the walking, talking astronaut who believes he's crash-landed on a strange planet.
Buzz has more than 100 sayings and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He responds to a handful of phrases, including his own catchphrase "To infinity and beyond!" Buzz can also shoot "lasers" from his arms and change his behavior when you repeat the phrase, "You're a toy." It comes with a remote control with a 20-foot range.
  • Designed for younger children, Matchbox's Stinky the Garbage Truck ($60, ages 3 and up) can stand on his hind wheels as well as sing and talk with the help of more than 90 built-in phrases. Kids can do things such as touch his head to make him shake it from side to side. Sometimes, he'll even demand food.
Stocking stuffers and extras:
Innovation First Inc.'s Hexbug Nano's ($8 each, ages 3 and up) make for cute, inexpensive gifts. These robotic bugs come in an assortment of colors and can fit inside a child's hand.

They move using vibrating technology, flipping onto their backs by themselves and finding their way through optional "habitats," or holding pens that include raceways and bridges (starting at $13, sold separately). Kids can register individual bugs online to unlock games.

MechRC's Dave the Funky Monkey ($30, ages 3 and up) is one of the most adorable robots around, and it costs just a fraction of what many others do. Available only at Toys R Us, this small, furry puppet is meant to be worn on, say, a shoulder or a backpack and is controlled by a remote control designed to be hidden inside a pocket.

He chatters and flails using 16 pre-programmed actions and sounds, and his eyes move. The designers also made other body parts interactive but won't say what they are, as they hope kids will discover them through play.

2010 "10 Worst Toys" List-Are any of these on your Santa list?? #parents #kids #Christmas

While Santa is making his list and checking it twice to see who's been naughty or nice, you might want to make sure to watch for the worst toys for your children this Christmas.  The World Against Toys Causing Harm, W.A.T.C.H, has come out with their annual list of potentially harmful toys.  Make sure none of your gifts are on the naughty toy list by clicking the images below to learn more about the potential hazards of each of the below items on their site.  Thankfully none of the toys listed are on our kids must have list this year, but this list is not conclusive, so make sure you read all warning labels and watch out for toys that could be harmful if swallowed, easily detachable or could impale, puncture, strangle a child or be potentially toxic.

2010 "10 Worst Toys" List
W.A.T.C.H.'s annual "10 Worst Toys" list nominates representative toys with the potential to cause childhood injuries, or even death. W.A.T.C.H.'s annual "Toy Conference" has generated extensive national press and media coverage. Because of these efforts, and the positive response from both the media and the public, there have been many toy and product design changes. Founder Edward M. Swartz (1934-2010) and W.A.T.C.H. fearlessly exposed potentially dangerous toys to the general public. As a result, children’s lives have been saved.

"I remember her saying 'Die' and that she regretted having me,"-Mom Guilty Of Imprisoning Teenage Son

I recall hearing about this case last year. I'm glad to hear the punishment may finally fit the crime. Thank God he was able to escape. I don't know why he was sent to live with her after he turned ten, but why was she allowed to have custody of him after serving time in prison in 2006 after previously killing her two year old child??!! This is an example of the laws against child abusers being too lax, someone who killed a baby previously should never have been set free to parent another child!!

I hope she and her partner in crime both get life in prison!! The poor boy, I hope he gets lots of love and counseling so that he can grow up to be a wonderful father someday!

OKLAHOMA CITY --
An Oklahoma City woman charged with locking her teenage son in a closet and beating him has pleaded guilty to multiple child abuse and neglect charges and faces up to life in prison. LaRhonda Marie McCall, 38, made a blind plea, which means there's no deal with prosecutors and she's throwing herself on the mercy of the court, assistant Oklahoma County District Attorney Scott Rowland said Saturday.

The case gained national attention in September 2009 when the now 16-year-old Bernell McCall walked up to a security guard at a National Guard armory about a mile and a half from his home and said he had escaped and needed police.

The boy, now in foster care, was malnourished and covered with scars and bruises. He testified during a preliminary hearing in January that McCall and her friend, co-defendant Steve Hamilton, often bound him with twine, a telephone cord or plastic ties or locked him in a closet for "stealing" food from the family's kitchen.

The abuse happened about four times a week, he told a judge. "Sometimes they would leave me in there for a couple of nights before I got free," he said.
Bernell McCall also testified his mother and Hamilton had choked him until he passed out and that she once doused him with rubbing alcohol and set him ablaze.

UK cuts - wheelchair users are fair game #hcr #tcot #health #news

More rationing of care in the UK for the disabled. Apparently they don't think wheelchair users need a disability living allowance?? They are considered mobile and not necessarily unable to work and participate fully in everyday life;payments will be given to those unable to carry independent lives. The cuts will reduce expenditures and claimants living allowances at least 20%.

This is sad to hear, because I have a sister who is disabled since birth;she has spina-bifida, which is a birth defect that leaves you unable to walk because your spine does not fully develop, she also has hydrocephalus, which causes fluids in the brain to 'leak' so she needs a shunt/tube to help drain the fluids into her stomach, without it she would die.

Although she is mobile and in a wheelchair, she is able to work, but she is unable to live a fully independent life. While she can do quite a bit,she is still unable to drive to and from a job, store, etc. and it is difficult for her to live independently. She is in the process of trying to get a disability license but needs the equipment to convert her car which is expensive and without disability payments she would not be able to afford it. In addition she needs medicines to prevent seizures and bladder infections. She has had extensive medical care growing up, without disability insurance and the assistance of charities, like the Shriners, she may not be here today.

I hope we don't see reductions in health care like this in the US once the costs of government mandated health insurance kicks in. The expected costs are already creating cuts in medicines and care such as the cuts to avastin, a life-saving breast cancer drug and the recent recommendations to have mammogram screenings later in life.

Wheelchair users may miss out in benefits shake-up

Wheelchair users are among the people likely to be affected.

• A wider range of aids and adaptations will be taken into account in the assessment process, meaning that people who can get about in wheelchairs may be ineligible.
