Little Bytes Newsletter August 2005
Welcome to my premiere online newsletter for parents and writers, by a parent and educator. I hope you will find this resource useful and educational, as well as entertaining. You are welcome to submit articles to the newsletter that reflect the main objective, children, childhood and parenting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A message from the editor:
Dear Readers:

First of all, I want to thank you for contributing to my newsletter by either subscribing or submitting stories and articles to my site. I really appreciate the support and input from all of you. I also hope to hear more from you in the coming months.

Summer has come in full force, yet somehow is quickly coming to an end. I hope you have enjoyed your summer and found some family time to take a vacation. We enjoyed a relaxing week on the beach in Seaside, Oregon. Although there was a slight breeze and it was cooler on some days than others, we found the beach warm enough to get some sun rays, while baby played in the sand nearby. The cool water was just enough to cool you off during a leisurely stroll. If you've never been it is worth the trip. Seaside offers a variety of shopping, seafood and homestyle meals along the main street, as well as a visit to the Seaside Aquarium to feed the seals and observe the octopus and various underwater creatures that live in the nearby ocean. During the day you will enjoy strolling along the beach in the soft sand, sun bathing, beach combing, or walking along the promenade taking in the fresh air, ocean views and cool breezes. Living in the Southwest at temperatures reaching 100 plus for the past 30 days really made this vacation relaxing and refreshing.

Once again, I hope to hear more from you in the coming months so that we can make this site and e-zine a valuable resource for all involved. I will continue to provide a monthly writing topic and hope to receive new submissions every month from past contributors or subscribers. Thank you again for your interest and participation. I hope to make this a fun and entertaining resource for parents, educators, children, families, and writers, young and old. If you are not already a member or subscriber please make sure you sign up on the site for FREE and pass this along to others who might be interested in joining the Little Bytes Newsletter.

Until September, take care and be safe,

The Day I Found My True Purpose In Life

The day I found my "true" purpose in life…

By Patricia Garza

June 21, 2005

The day I found my 'true' purpose in life was...after the birth of my son nearly a year ago. Until that time I lived an existence of self-gratification, with no true fulfillment other than the marriage to my spouse, two and a half years earlier. But, with the pregnancy and birth of my son came a whole new meaning to my life and to the meaning of life.

Before my son was born or even thought of, I worked as an elementary teacher surrounded by other people's children on a daily basis. At times the thought of having children of my own scared me simply because I knew how different they all are and how difficult some children can be. I feared having a child that would be a problem student, or a troublemaker in school. Worse yet, I feared pregnancy and the thought of walking around with my stomach bulging out so far that my belly button might stick out! ... Finish the story ---->

9. A Little Humor Goes A Long Way

Here is a funny e-mail joke someone sent me recently. I thought I'd share it with you. If you have a related joke or humorous story you would like to share please send it to and your joke or story could appear in our next newsletter or on our site!

One Nation, "Under God."

One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom. The teacher was going to explain evolution to the children.

The teacher asked a little boy: Tommy do you see the tree outside?

TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?

TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.

TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.

TEACHER: Did you see God?

TEACHER: That's my point. We can't see God because he isn't there. He just doesn't exist.

A little girl spoke up and wanted to ask the boy some questions.

The teacher agreed and the little girl asked the boy:

Tommy, do you see the tree outside?

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy do you see the grass outside?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Did you see the sky?

TOMMY: Yessssss!

LITTLE GIRL: Tommy, do you see the teacher?

LITTLE GIRL: Do you see her brain?

LITTLE GIRL: Then according to what we were taught today in school, she must not have one! (You Go Girl!)
