Kansas Democrat Proposes Spanking Bill That Would Allow Bruising Children

Proposal: State Rep. Gail Finney, a Democrat from Wichita, says she wants to allow up to 10 strikes of the hand and that could leave redness and bruising

WTH?? I thought liberals were against any form of physical dicipline let alone punishment of any child?? While I avoid spanking whenever I can, my husband will resort to it when my sons are continuously being defiant or talking back, but he never spanks to the point of bruising...isn't that the definition of child abuse??

While I support giving parents protection and the right to spank or discipline their children...I don't think hitting them to the point of bruising and leaving marks is reasonable.

Under the proposal, the law would continue to ban hitting a child with fists, in the head or body, or with a belt or switch.
